Could
you identify the symptoms of a cardiac arrest? Cardiovascular disease is
the #1 major cause of death for both males and females. Tennessee is one of 11
states with the highest death rates as a result of cardiovascular disease.
It has been proven that CPR can widen the survival window for a sudden cardiac
arrest victim.

Once a year, the Blount County Chapter offers a
FREE CPR course to the public.
This is your chance to earn or update your certification so that you too can "Change
A Life."
This year's event was held on:
Saturday, March 8, 2008
9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
While this year's Free CPR course has come
and gone, we encourage you to attend one of our other community CPR, AED, or
First Aid courses. Please check our Chapter Calendar for dates and times
of scheduled courses.
The following applies to Super CPR Saturday only:
How do I sign up?
Pre-registration is required.
Registration details will be posted during the registration period preceding
each year's event.
Is this a regular CPR course for certification?
From checking an ill or injured person to the
steps to perform CPR and everything in between, experienced Red Cross
volunteer instructors will be working with all students to ensure that all
skills are not just taught, but also practiced and refined.
Each participant that completes the class and
passes the skills test will receive certification in CPR.
How many people will be in this class?
This class is open to the public. The
more the merrier. We will train as one large class in small groups in
our main training area. There will be a central instructor, and each
small group will also have an instructor.
How long is my certification good for?
One year. CPR certifications must be
renewed annually.
Is there an age requirement for this free CPR course?
There is no age limit for participating in
the First Aid, CPR/AED classes; however, in order for a participant to
successfully complete the courses, he or she must participate in all of the
class skill practice sessions, pass the skills assessment, and achieve an 80%
or better on the written tests. There are certain skills, such as abdominal
thrusts, back blows, and compressions, that students must be able to complete,
so someone's height and weight may be more of an indicator for ability to
complete and pass the course than age.
How long will the course last?
This is a 4 hour course, and will likely take
the entire time.
What should I wear?
Dress comfortably, as you will be required to
practice and demonstrate your CPR skills.
