for Schools and the Community
One of our most popular courses, it
is great for community needs. This course combines lectures, demonstrations
and video with hands-on training and practice. Participants in this course
learn to recognize and respond to emergencies including shock, cardiac and
breathing emergencies for adults, children and infants, heat and cold
emergencies, sudden illnesses and poisonings. Additionally, participants will
learn first aid for everything from cuts and scrapes to muscle, bone and joint
injuries.
CPR - Adult (3-1/2 hours)
For the person who only needs adult CPR training, this hands-on skills
training prepares them to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in
adults. Adult CPR/AED is available in a 4-1/2 hour course with AED training
included.
CPR - Child and Infant (4-1/4 hours)
Designed for those who care for children, either full time or occasionally,
this course teaches participants how to recognize and care for breathing and
cardiac emergencies in infants and children age 12 and younger. CPR - Infant
is available separately as a 3-3/4 hour course that applies to infants up to
12 months; CPR - Child (3-3/4 hours) is available separately and applies to
children between the ages of 1 and 12.
AED - Adult and Child
This course teaches individuals currently certified in CPR - Adult and CPR -
Child how to safely use an AED to provide care for victims of sudden cardiac
arrest.
Pet First Aid
Pet First Aid is a handy reference guide for cat and dog emergencies.
Created by the American Red Cross, Pet First Aid provides assistance to people
whose pets are ill or injured. Select chapters also offer a pet first aid
course.
Workplace Courses
From CPR, first aid and automated
external defibrillator (AED) training to injury prevention courses, bloodborne
pathogens training and community disaster preparedness education, Red Cross
training offers complete, flexible programs that help your company stay
prepared for virtually any life-threatening situation. First Aid/CPR/AED
training courses combine lecture, demonstrations and video with hands-on
training in a 'practice-while-you-watch' format.

Standard First Aid with CPR/AED - Adult (6-½ hours)
Prepare your staff with the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent,
recognize, and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses until
advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. This course covers first aid,
adult CPR and AED training. First Aid and CPR training without learning AED
skills is also available in a 5-½ hour course.
Adult CPR (3 ¾ hours)
For employers who need adult CPR training only, this hands-on skills training
prepares participants to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in
adults. Adult CPR/AED is available in a 4-1/2 hour course with AED training
included.
CPR - Child and Infant (4-1/4 hours)
Designed for those who care for children, either full time or occasionally,
this course teaches participants how to recognize and care for breathing and
cardiac emergencies in infants and children age 12 and younger. CPR - Infant

AED - Adult
This course teaches individuals currently certified in CPR- Adult the skills
and knowledge needed to provide care for victims of sudden cardiac arrest
through the safe use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). AED - Child
training is also available. Available in English and Spanish.
Bloodborne Pathogens Training: Preventing Disease Transmission (2
hours)
This course meets OSHA's revised Bloodborne Pathogens Standard. This course
teaches participants how bloodborne pathogens are spread, how to prevent
exposures and what to do if exposed to infectious materials.
Injury Control Modules (1 hour each)
Focusing on common causes of worksite injuries and key health risks, these
one-hour awareness-level modules highlight risks and promote prevention.
Self-assessments help employees recognize risky habits. Demonstrations and
lively discussions reinforce practical prevention tips. Modules include:
Ergonomics; Slips, Trips and Falls; Back Injury Prevention; Workplace Violence
Awareness; Managing Stress; and Your Heart Matters.
Administering Emergency Oxygen (2-1/2 hours)
Gives participants the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to a
victim of a breathing emergency using breathing devices, including
resuscitation masks, bag-valve-mask resuscitators (BVMs) and emergency oxygen.
Professional
Rescuer Training
Our professional rescuer courses
are designed for people with job-related duties in emergency preparedness and
response. This includes nurses, law enforcement and EMS personnel, fire
fighters, business and industry response teams, lifeguards, flight attendants,
and others who must take action in emergency situations.
Emergency Response is a comprehensive course designed for training
first responders. The course follows the 1995 US DOT First Responder National
Standard Curriculum and meets ECC Guidelines.
CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer teaches students to respond to
breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants, use an AED
on an adult or child victim of cardiac arrest and use personal protective
equipment to stop bloodborne pathogens and other diseases from spreading.
Course fee: $50.00
Administering Emergency Oxygen gives participants the knowledge and
skills necessary to provide care to a victim of a breathing emergency using
breathing devices, including resuscitation masks, bag-valve-mask resuscitators
(BVMs) and emergency oxygen.
Preventing Disease Transmission. A two-hour training module for
employers and employees who, while on the job, may be exposed to blood or
other body fluids that could cause infection. Employers may offer this program
as part of their compliance with OSHA regulations.
Challenges & Refresher Courses
Is your CPR or First Aid certification about to expire? CPR certifications
are good for 1 year, and First Aid certifications are good for 3 years.
If your certification has not yet expired, you can renew your CPR
certification without attending a full class. Participants must pass a skills
test and written exam without coaching.
Challenges are offered by appointment, so you won't find them on the
training calendar.
Course fee: 20.00 for one component plus $5.00 for each additional component
Family Caregiving
The purpose of the Family Caregiving Program is to help participants gain an
understanding of what is involved in caring for a loved one and know how to
provide that care through 1-hour modules covering topics such as personal care,
nutrition, home safety and others. This information is of vital importance to
those caring for their loved ones who suffer from chronic illness or
disabilities.
Blended Learning Courses
The following courses are available through Blended Learning, a process which
combines online coursework with classroom skills training. Students who
wish to complete Health & Safety courses through Blended Learning will complete
the written coursework through an online process, and then will need to schedule
a skills training session either through the online process or by calling the
chapter directly.

Basic Aid Training (B.A.T.) (6 hours)

This course, which may be led by any responsible adult, introduces 8-10
year-olds to the emergency action steps, Check, Call, Care as well as to basic
first aid procedures. An activity book with puzzles and games teaches children
how to prevent injuries and what to do in an emergency.
First Aid for Children Today (F.A.C.T.) (10 - 14 hours)
The FACT Critter Clan leads kids, aged 5 - 8, through health promotion and
injury prevention activities. Its environmental theme teaches safety in a
non-threatening way.

Scrubby
Bear
Hand Washing Progam
The Scrubby Bear® hand washing
program consists of materials developed to aid in instructing children as to the
importance of good hand washing habits in preventing diseases such as Infectious
Diarrhea, Hepatitis A, and colds. Scrubby Bear® reminds children and adults that
infection can be fought through frequent hand washing. Scrubby is an immediate
reminder to scrub your hands, reinforced by his message, “Don’t get sick, Wash
up quick!” Children love Scrubby and really respond to his message. The program
is most appropriate for children ages 4 through 7. Although the written and
verbal materials are currently available in English only, they have been
successfully used by schools, hospitals, health agencies and day care centers
throughout the world.
Babysitting
Babysitter's Training (6 hours)
The Babysitter's Training course has a unique interactive, educational format
that tasks youth, ages 11 - 14 years of age, with activities such as
identifying safety problems around the house and yard and selecting
age-appropriate toys and games for children in their care. Participants learn
by doing. This format, along with the course video and an enthusiastic
instructor, keeps the interest of the babysitters and provides a meaningful
classroom experience.
